SPITFIRE contribution to the SSN-XG ontology, was recently highlighted by Kerry Taylor (CSIRO, Australia) in her talk at the Semantic Technology conference (SemTech). The title of the talk was “Semantic Sensor Networks: The W3C SSN-XG Ontology and How to Semantically Enable Real Time Sensor Feeds” slides). During the talk, SPITFIRE was showcased as one of the projects using semantics to enhance sensor networks.
In addition, Alexandre Passant (NUIG) has participated in SemTech and gave (among other talks) a talk on “Semwebbers, LODers: What PubSubHubbub Can Do For You” (slides). This presentation shows a new approach to enable realtime notification about structured data on the Web, which is especially useful in case of highly dynamic data as sensor data are. The approach is called sparqlPush and combines SPARQL, SPARQL Update and PubSubHubbub for proactive notifications of changes in RDF stores.
As the world’s largest, most authoritative conference on semantic technology for enterprise computing professionals, SemTech offers a perfect platform for disseminating the contributions of the SPITFIRE project to a wide range of industries.
